Almost 2 million PLN from the National Science Centre for a researcher from CMMS PAS in the SONATA 20 competition

In the latest edition of the SONATA 20 competition, the National Science Centre awarded PLN 1,821,400 in funding for the research project “Inhibitors of the nemevalonate pathway of isoprenoid biosynthesis – a new type of antibiotic in the fight against tuberculosis and malaria.” The project will be carried out at the Center for Molecular and Macromolecular Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Łódź.

The project manager is NCN grant winner dr. inż. Ignacy Przemysław Janicki, assistant professor in the Department of Organic Chemistry.

SONATA 20 is a competition for research projects aimed at individuals who have obtained a doctoral degree between two and seven years prior to the year of application. In this edition of the competition, 1,179 applications were submitted, with a total value of over PLN 1.3 billion. A total of 207 projects were selected for funding, amounting to over PLN 260 million. The success rate in the SONATA 20 competition was 17.6%.
