PhD scholarship position in NCN SONATA-19

Announcement on the PhD scholarship in an NCN SONATA-19 Project (No. DEC-2023/51/D/ST8/01325/R) „Nature of the physical processes occurring during ultrahigh plastic (megaplastic) deformation”.

Position: a PhD scholarship

 

Task description:

1. Production of polymer materials with a specific microstructure;
2. Carrying out the polymerization process under conditions of very large plastic deformations;
3. Analysis of the polymer materials obtained, their structure and properties using various research techniques (DMTA, DSC, TGA, SEM, EDS, WAXS, SAXS, FTIR, mechanical tests);
4. Search for correlations between the structure and the properties of the materials studied;
5. Participation in national/international scientific conferences;
6. Participation in writing and editing scientific articles.

Profile of candidates/requirements:

1. Master of Science degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Materials, or related sciences or a student of the final year of stationary studies within the last 5 years;
2. Knowledge of basic principles of polymerization
3. Experience of analytical techniques (NMR, TEM, XRD, DSC);
4. Fluent in written and spoken English;
5. Enthusiasm and high motivation for learning new techniques and collaboration with other research groups.

The selected candidate is supposed to apply to Doctoral School to follow the PhD studies requirements in Poland.

Applications will be considered on continuous basis in the order in which they are received until the position is filled. The Recruitment Committee will evaluate the candidates taking into account their scientific achievements and preparation for work in the project. Based on received ranking list, the candidate with the highest number of points will be recommended for the postdoc position. In case of resignation of this candidate, the Committee recommends the next person from the ranking list. A requisite for the payment of the scholarship is that the candidate has achieved the status of a doctoral student at the Doctoral School.

1. A cover letter.
2. CV – a list of scientific achievements, which include publications, scholarships, awards and scientific experience acquired during previous scholarships, workshops and scientific training, and participation in research projects.
3. A copy of the diploma or official document confirming the obtaining of M.Sc. degree or a formal letter confirming the status of student in the final year of graduate studies.
4. At least one letter of recommendation from previous supervisors or academic faculty members.
