Over 9 million PLN from the National Science Centre for research by scientists at the CMMS PAS

Researchers from the Institute of Molecular and Macromolecular Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences have been awarded nearly PLN 9.1 million under the recently announced OPUS 30 and SONATA 21 research project competitions.

A record number of applications – over 3,700 – were submitted to the National Science Centre. Ultimately, 279 OPUS projects and 243 SONATA projects received funding, with a total budget of nearly PLN 912 million.

The success rate in the OPUS competition was 13.34%, while in the SONATA competition it reached 18.03%.

The funding success rate amounted to 16.02% in the OPUS competition and 20.32% in the SONATA competition.

Among the CBMiM PAS researchers whose proposals successfully passed the multi-stage expert evaluation process and received funding for basic research are:

  • Prof. Andrzej Gałęski – OPUS 30 – Project leader of the research project “Nanofibrils Produced from Crystalline Polymers with Disentangled Macromolecules”;
  • Dr Rafał Jakubowski – OPUS 30 – Project leader of the research project “Bent-Core Materials Based on Boron Clusters as Dopants Inducing the Flexoelectric Effect in Liquid Crystal Matrices”;
  • Dr Damian Kaniowski – SONATA 21 – Project leader of the research project “A Novel Boron Cluster-Modified Bispecific Therapeutic Nucleic Acid for Cancer Treatment – Preclinical Evaluation in an In Ovo Model”;
  • Dr Kinga Piórecka – SONATA 21 – Project leader of the research project “Silsesquioxanes as Nanocarriers for Drugs Targeting Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma”.

We warmly congratulate the awarded researchers and wish them every success in achieving their research goals!
