PhD scholarship (2 positions) in an NCN Project

Announcement on the PhD scholarship (2 positions) in an NCN SONATA BIS 8 Project (No. 2018/30/E/ST5/00576) “Hydrogels composed of dynamic cross-links of controlled diffusivity and enhanced
solubility of drugs for gynecological treatment”

Position title: a PhD student

Applicant has to meet the following requirements:
1. Master of Science degree in chemistry or related sciences received in the last 5 years or student of the final year of stationary studies;
2. Status of PhD student at CMMS, PAS in Lodz or to be able to apply to Doctoral School (BioMedChem);
3. Experience in organic chemistry; The knowledge within polymer chemistry will be preferred.
4. Knowledge of analytical techniques, such as NMR, UV, IR;
5. Fluent in written and spoken English;
6. Willingness to cooperate in interdisciplinary environment;
7. Motivation for scientific work, creativity.

Task description:
Research conducted as part of a Project:
“Hydrogels composed of dynamic cross-links of controlled diffusivity and enhanced solubility of drugs for gynecological treatment”, SONATA BIS 8, ST5 will consist of:
1. Synthesis and characterization of comonomers, homo- and copolymers;
2. Structural modification of polymers;
3. Formation of hydrogel materials of reversible character;
4. Detailed characteristics of obtained materials;
5. Cooperation with biomedical environment;
5. Participation in national/international scientific conferences

The conditions of employment:
NCN scholarship: 3500 PLN / month for 48 months (6 months of trial time).
The location of project: Centre of Molecular and Macromolecular Studies, Polish Academy of Sciences, Polymer Division
Competition type: SONATA BIS 8 – ST5

The final date of the contest: Applications will be considered during continuous screening in the order in which they were submitted until 2 positions are fulfilled.

1. A cover letter with contact details and brief justification of willingness to participate in the project relating to the requirements.
2. CV – the list of scientific achievements, including publications, scholarships, awards and scientific experience acquired during previous scholarships, workshops and scientific training, participation in research projects.
3. A copy of the diploma or official document confirming the obtaining of the Master’s degree or formal letter confirming the status of student of the final year of graduate studies in chemistry or related sciences.
4. At least one letter of recommendation from the previous supervisor.
