ASSISTANT POSITION in Polymer Division

Director of Centre of Molecular and Macromolecular Studies, Polish Academy of Sciences in Lodz opens up a competition for nn Assistant position in Polymer Division.

The position connected with research in the field of organic and organometallic synthesis of complexes, and conjugates of nanocarriers with anticancer drugs.

Scientific research and other works, which a candidate will participate in:

1. Synthesis and in vitro studies of nano-conjugates and complexes of silicon quantum dots, and polyhedral silsesquioxanes with anticancer drugs as potential novel materials in chemotherapy and photothermal therapy.
2. Synthesis of nanocarriers (quantum silicon dots and polyhedral silsesquioxanes).
3. Chemical and electro-chemical modification of nanocarriers with functional linkers allowing conjugation with drugs.
4. Development of efficient conjugation pathways of anthracyclines and silicon quantum dots.
5. Analysis of intermediate materials nanocariers, modified nanocarriers and conjugates using spectroscopic, spectrometric and microscopic techniques (NMR, IR, UV, SEM, AFM, confocal imaging).
6. Biological and cytotoxicity tests on cancer and normal cell lines including MTT.
7. assays, in vitro uptake studies by flow cytometry and confocal microscopy imaging.

Terms and conditions to be met by a candidate:

1. Holding at least a Master Degree in Physics, Chemistry or related.
2. Documented scientific background in the above mentioned fields, including at least two papers in the journals from Philadelphia List.
3. Significant experience in conducting the investigations listed in the first paragraph.
4. Skills in experimental techniques listed in the first paragraph.
5. Participation in international conferences.
6. A good knowledge of English allowing for unconstraint use of scientific literature.
