PhD scholarship in an NCN OPUS16 Project

Announcement on the PhD scholarship in an NCN OPUS16 Project (UMO-2018/31/B/ST8/01969) “Application of weak covalent bonds for the preparation of reversible polymer networks and lactide copolymers”

Position title: a PhD student

Requirements:

1. Master of Science degree in chemistry or related sciences received preferably in the last 5 years or student of the final year of stationary studies.
2. To be able to apply for a PhD program in Lodz.
3. Experience in organic chemistry; The knowledge within polymer chemistry will be preferred.
4. Knowledge of analytical techniques, such as NMR, UV, IR, GPC.
5. Good written and spoken English.

Task description:

1. Preparation of reagents, initiators and comonomers necessary for the synthesis of lactide polymers.
2. Synthesis of copolymers of lactide with vinyl monomers.
3. Analysis of the structure and thermal properties of obtained copolymers, study of their degradation.
4. Preparation of reports, publications and materials for the presentation at scientific conferences.
5. Required classes as a PhD student.

Conditions:

1. NCN scholarship: 4500 PLN / month for 33 months.

The deadline for competition: September 30, 2020

The final date of the contest: Applications will be considered during continuous screening in the order in which they were submitted until the  position is fulfilled.
The contest does not have to end positively despite the candidates applying.

2. CV – the list of scientific achievements, including publications, scholarships, awards
and scientific experience acquired during previous scholarships, workshops and scientific training, participation in research projects.
3. A copy of the diploma or official document confirming the obtaining of the Master’s degree
4.  At least one recommendation letter from the previous supervisor.
