Competition for a POST-DOC position in Polymers Division of the NCN OPUS ST8 Project

(UMO-2021/41 / B / ST8 / 04036) “Foaming of polymer nanocomposites”.

Profile of candidates/requirements:

• PhD in the field of science or technical sciences (engineering, physics, chemistry, materials or related sciences);
• scientific interests in the field of physics / chemistry of polymers;
• mastering the basics of physics and physical chemistry of polymers, in particular in the field of nanomaterials and nanocomposites, as well as in stress / strain analysis;
• publication achievements in the field of nanocomposites and nanomaterials;
• knowledge of the English language, enabling the use of English-language scientific literature and discussions;
• high commitment and motivation to research work;
• willingness to continuously improve and expand skills;
• readiness to actively participate in the scientific life of the research team and the Institute.

Description of task:

• preparation of “all-polymer” nanocomposites with the use of polymers with disentangled macromolecules, research on the disentangling of polypropylene and other polymers;
• preparation of polymer nanocomposites suitable for foaming;
• preparation of fibrous nanocomposites with the participation of polymers deforming into nanofibers and crystallizing as a result of shear;
• foaming of nanocomposites with chemical foaming agents;
• foaming of nanocomposites during extrusion using supercritical CO2;
• examination of the properties of the obtained foams, optimization of the foaming process;
• correlating macroscopic properties of foams with the structure and properties of nanocomposites.

The conditions of employment:

• employment in the institute, start of employment planned for June 2022, salary in the amount of PLN 10,000 / month. gross / gross (this includes the required insurance: health, retirement, pension and taxes);
• employment period: 12 months with the possibility of extension;
• project location: Center for Molecular and Macromolecular Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Polymers Division.
• the possibility of employment at the CBMiM PAN after the end of the contract.

Competition decisions: The Recruitment Committee will evaluate the candidates taking into account scientific achievements, publication achievements, professional experience and preparation for work in the project. On the basis of the ranking list, the candidate with the highest number of points will be recommended for the post-doc position. In the event of the above-mentioned candidate’s resignation, the Committee may recommend another person from the ranking list or repeat the competition.
