PhD student position in NCN SONATA 20

Announcement on the PhD STUDENT position in NCN SONATA 20 Project (No. 2024/55/D/ST5/02525) is open. The title of the project is  “Inhibitors of the non-mevalonate isoprenoid biosynthesis pathway – a new class of antibiotics against tuberculosis and malaria”.

Position: PhD student 

Requirements:

1. Master degree in chemistry, pharmacy, biotechnology or related discipline;
2. Theoretical knowledge in the field of organic chemistry and analysis of organic molecules;
3. Interest in scientific work;
4. Good written and spoken English;
5. Additional advantages are practical experience in laboratory work as well as basic knowledge in the fields of molecular biology, bioinformatics or medicinal chemistry;
6. Candidate will be obligated to join the BioMedChem Doctoral School and to carry out obligations of its PhD student.

Task description:

The tasks of the PhD student in the project

1. Synthesis and analysis of organic molecules;
2. Designing the synthetic pathways for the synthesis of organic molecules;
3. Participation in testing biological activity of the obtained compounds;
4. Participation in scientific conferences;
5. Participation in the preparation of scientific manuscripts.

The conditions of scholarship:

• Location of the project: Centre of Molecular and Macromolecular Studies, Polish Academy of Sciences, Division of Organic Chemistry
• Working in the chemical laboratory with possibility of learning new techniques. Cooperation with external institutions.
