Director of the Centre of Molecular and Macromolecular Studies, Polish Academy of Sciences in Lodz, opens three ASSISTANT SCIENTIST POSSITIONS in the Division of Bioorganic Chemistry.
The position is related to the research on:
Design and synthesis of structural analogs of nucleic acids (including P-diastereomeric species) and determination of their biological and biophysical properties.
or
Molecular modeling/design of ligands, including nucleoside derivatives, and determination of their stability and affinity towards selected proteins.
The research domain includes:
1. Design of structural analogs of nucleotides and nucleic acids
2. Chemical synthesis of components to be used in oligonucleotide synthesis
3. Solid phase synthesis of nucleic acids analogs
4. Isolation of low-molecular-weight products and oligonucleotides by means of liquid chromatography (RP, SEC, IEC), separation of P-diastereomers
5. Determination of structure of the products using elemental analysis, NMR, MS, UV-VIS, IR, ORD/CD,
6. Preparation of seminars, reports, scientific publications and conference presentations.
or
1. Design of low-molecular-weight compounds, nucleoside derivatives intended to interact with selected proteins
2. Analysis of ligand-protein interactions using in silico tools
3. Analysis of stability of nucleoside derivatives by means of HPLC
4. Preparation of seminars, reports, scientific publications and conference presentations.
Required qualifications and criteria to be met by a candidate:
1. PhD degree in chemistry or related discipline
2. Scientific accomplishments in the above specified domains, with at least one scientific paper in a journal from the Philadelphia List of Journals or a patent (under exceptional circumstances a patent pending will do)
3. Experience in the organic synthesis (knowledge on techniques used in synthesis of nucleic acids will be an advantage), or experience in docking of nucleoside-like ligands to proteins
4. Documented participation in national and international conferences devoted to topics specified in the above paragraph
5. Speaking and writing English at the level allowing for efficient use of the professional literature and for participation in international conferences
6. Ability to work in a team and strong motivation for research work.
Required documents:
1. Application
2. CV
3. Xerox copy of the PhD Diploma
4. The list of scientific achievements (publications, participation in conferences),
5. A letter of recommendation provided by a scientist who supervised the Candidate for at least 6 months over the last 5 years period.
The documents should be sent to the CMMS PAS, Scientific Office, Sienkiewicza 112, 90-363 Lodz with the note:
„Competition for an assistant in Division of Bioorganic Chemistry”.
Closing date for submission is 18 November 2019.
Decision will be made before 29 November 2019.
