PhD student position in an NCN SONATA BIS-14 Project

Announcement on the PhD student position in an NCN SONATA BIS-14 Project (2024/54/E/ST11/00168)- “Supramolecular nanoparticles able to block calcium channels in cancer cells”

Position: a PhD student position

Applicant has to meet the following requirements:

  1. Master of Science degree in chemistry, biochemistry or related sciences received in the last 5 years;
  2. Status of a doctoral student at the BioMedChem Doctoral School or readiness for recruitment to this School;
  3. Knowledge and experience in organic chemistry and the synthesis of polymers and copolymers. Familiarity with NMR, FTIR, DSC, TGA, and DLS techniques;
  4. Very good written and spoken English;
  5. Openness to interdisciplinary cooperation;
  6. Motivation for conducting scientific research, creativity.

Task description:

  1. Synthesis of cyclic carbonate copolymers with allyl glycidyl ether and their functionalization using “click” chemistry methods;
  2. Preparation of nanoparticles with appropriate size and structure using microfluidic and nanoprecipitation techniques, etc.;
  3. Analysis of the obtained copolymers and nanoparticles, their structure, properties, and stability in aqueous solutions (NMR, FTIR, DSC, TGA, SEM, DLS);
  4. Encapsulation of target active substances in the obtained nanoparticles and analysis of their release kinetics;
  5. Participation in national/international scientific conferences;
  6. Participation in writing and editing scientific papers.

 

The conditions of employment:

Scholarship: PLN 5,000/month net before mid-term evaluation, PLN 6,500/month net after mid-term evaluation.
