POST-DOC in NCN OPUS-LAP Project

Call for the POST-DOC position in the NCN OPUS 24-LAP project (DEC-2022/47/I/ST4/01629/2 dated 2024-01-09) “Machine Learning and Advanced NMR Crystallography – Complementary Tools for Optimizing Synthetic Pathways, Predicting and Solving Structures of Complex Co-Crystalline Systems and Their Amorphous Analogs.”

Position Title: Post-Doc

Requirements:

• A PhD in chemistry, physics, materials engineering, or a related discipline, obtained or approved within the last 7 years;
• Documented experience in physicochemical research using structural and spectroscopic methods, such as crystallography, NMR spectroscopy, or optical spectroscopy. Advanced knowledge of at least one of the mentioned research methods (or related methods);
• Ability to independently conduct experiments and perform full data analysis;
• Experience working with molecular modeling software (e.g., Gaussian, Orca, Turbomole) and/or materials modeling (e.g., Quantum Espresso, VASP, CASTEP) and analyzing the results of quantum chemical calculations. Experience working in an HPC (High Performance Computing) environment;
• Knowledge of at least one programming language (e.g., Python, C++, Fortran, or others) as well as programming libraries for machine learning (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, or others). Knowledge with the latest trends in machine learning is welcome;
• Fluent command of English, both spoken and written; knowledge of other languages will be an additional asset;
• A scientific track record documented by at least three thematically coherent publications.

Job Description: The person employed in the Post-Doc position will be involved in a 3-year research project focused on developing computational methods, structural studies and planning the composition of systems of therapeutic significance. The project includes the use of machine learning, artificial intelligence, and numerical techniques to create algorithms for virtual selection of coformers in pharmaceutical co-crystal synthesis.
The employee’s duties will also include:
• Supervising students;
• Analyzing and reporting research results;
• Preparing scientific publications.

Employment Conditions:
• Employment contract: 11,666 PLN/month gross/gross;
• Project location: Centre of Molecular and Macromolecular Studies, Polish Academy of Sciences, Department of Structural Chemistry and Computational Methods;
• Employment period: one year, with the possibility of extension for another year;
