Announcement on the POST-DOC position in a NCN SONATA BIS 8 Project “Understanding of the role of the amorphous phase in selected properties of crystallizing polymers”(UMO-2018/30/E/ST8/00364)

Position  title: POST-DOC (postdoctoral scientists)

The Centre of Molecular and Macromolecular Studies, Polish Academy of Sciences, Lodz

Requirements:

  • PhD degree in technical sciences, physics, or related sciences received in the last 5 years.
  • Skills and experience in studying the relationship between the structure and properties of polymeric materials, with particular emphasis on hands-on experience in methods: DMTA, DSC, SEM, WAXS, SAXS, AFM, TGA, OIT, PLM, FTIR, NMR, UV-Vis.
  • Documented scientific achievements in the field of polymer science (publications listed in the JCR database). Candidates with experience in studying the structure and properties of partially crystalline polymers.
  • Ability to work independently: planning and execution of experiments; analysis and presentation of results.
  • Excellent teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Task description:

  • Physical and chemical modification of crystalline polymers, including biodegradable ones.
  • Analysis of the structure, thermal and mechanical properties of polymeric materials in the context of understanding the role of the amorphous phase.
  • Analysis of micromechanisms activated in the area of the amorphous/crystalline phase during deformations of crystalline polymers.
  • Supervising PhD student.
  • Presentation of project results in the form of reports, oral presentation.
  • Preparation of scientific publications.

The conditions of employment:

Employment in the institute, start of employment planned for April 2022, salary in the amount of PLN 10,000 gross/gross/month (this includes the required insurance: health, retirement, pension and taxes);

Contract duration: 12 months
