ASSISTANT-1 in Polymeric Nano-Materials Division

DIRECTOR OF THE CENTRE OF MOLECULAR AND MACROMOLECULAR STUDIES, POLISH ACADEMY OF SCIENCES, ANNOUNCES A COMPETITION FOR THE POSITION OF ASSISTANT-1 IN POLYMERIC NANO-MATERIALS DIVISION.

  1. The main objectives of the research will include:
  • Conducting research in the synthesis and properties of monomeric and macromolecular organosilicon compounds for the preparation of functional polymeric and hybrid nanomaterials;
  •  Synthesis of components and preparation of pure samples for physicochemical, spectroscopic, and thermal studies (chromatographic, crystallographic and precipitation methods);
  •  Study of the structure and properties of the obtained materials using spectroscopic techniques (NMR, MS, FT-IR, UV, FL), thermal analysis (DSC, TGA), and microscopy (OM, SEM);
  •  Analysis of the results obtained and preparation of publications in scientific journals, patent applications and presentations at scientific conferences;
  • Preparation of draft grant proposals. Acquisition of funds for research and purchase of research equipment.
  1. Conditions required from the candidate:
  • Doctoral degree in chemistry or related disciplines (preferably, obtained within the last ten years);
  • Proven scientific achievements in the areas mentioned in the first point, including at least three publications in JRC journals;
  • Proven ability to independently plan and conduct research and prepare research projects, participation in at least one project thematically related to the position;
  • Proficiency in research techniques used in organic synthesis or nanotechnology;
  • Participation and presentation of own results at national and international conferences;
  • Fluency in English (free use of professional literature, writing grant projects, original publications, monographs and patents).
  1. Required documents. Qualified researchers interested in applying for the position should submit the following documents:

  • A copy of the doctoral diploma;
  • List of publications and other achievements;
  • Summary of the candidate’s doctoral thesis (max. 400 words) in Polish or English;
  • Two opinions prepared by independent researchers.

  3. During the competition procedure candidates may be asked to present their results obtained so far in the form of a seminar at CMMS PAS.
  4. The selected candidate will be employed in accordance with the provisions of the Polish Labour Law for an indefinite or definite period.
  5. We reserve the right to cancel the competition without giving a reason.
