DIRECTOR OF CENTRE OF MOLECULAR AND MACROMOLECULAR STUDIES, POLISH ACADEMY OF SCIENCES IN LODZ ANNOUNCES A COMPETITION FOR THE ASSISTANT POSITION in Polymer Division
(THE POSITION IS CONNECTED TO RESEARCH IN THE FIELD OF PLASTIC DEFORMATION OF POLYMERIC MATERIALS AND MODIFICATION OF THEIR MECHANICAL PROPERTIES)
Scientific research and other works, which a candidate will participate in:
1. Study of the structure and physico-chemical properties of polymeric materials, including semicrystalline polymers, mechanisms of plastic deformation and the relationships between the structure and deformation mechanisms, including:
– study of the structure of the selected semicrystalline polymers and their structural modification in order to obtain samples of the desired structure and morphology,
– detailed studies of mechanical properties and the plastic deformation process in polymers under investigation,
– studies of structural and orientation changes induced by deformation using various experimental techniques, including X-ray (diffractometry, 2-D WAXS, 2-D SAXS, PFG), thermal (DSC, DMA, TGA), spectroscopy (FtiR, EDS) and microscopy (OM, SEM, TEM, AFM),
– identification of micromechanisms of deformation active in crystalline and amorphous phases,
– mathematical description of plastic deformation in selected semicrystalline polymers using nonlinear constitutive relationships and their implementation into a computer program based on the Finite Element Method (FEM),
– development of micromechanical computer models of selected semicrystalline polymers and systematic computer experiments (simulation) of the plastic deformation process of polymers using micromechanical models for better understanding the influence of particular structural parameters on deformation mechanisms.
2. Analysis of obtained results and preparation of publications in scientific journals and presentations at scientific conferences.
