ASSISTANT POSITION in Structural Chemistry Division

Director of Centre of Molecular and Macromolecular Studies, Polish Academy of Sciences in Lodz opens up a competition for an Assistant position in Structural Chemistry Division.

I   Scientific research and other works, which a candidate will participate in:

• Theoretical studies of the mechanism of catalytic nucleophilic substitution on silicon by DFT methods.
• Theoretical studies of the mechanisms of catalysis and specific intermolecular interactions in various chemical processes by DFT and ab initio methods.
• Research on the influence of nucleic acid modification on the structure, biochemical activity and thermodynamic stability of duplexes by DFT and molecular dynamics methods.
• Investigation on the mechanisms of polymerization reactions using DFT and molecular dynamics methods.

II   Terms and conditions to be met by a candidate:

• Holding a PhD in Chemistry or related.
• Fluent knowledge of quantum chemistry and computational techniques mentioned in the first point.
• Wide knowledge of general chemistry, including organic, organometallic, polymer and bioorganic chemistry.
• Experience in planning and conducting research mentioned in section I.
• Documented scientific background in the above mentioned fields, including at least four papers in the journals from Philadelphia List.
• Documented participation in national and international conferences devoted to the areas indicated above, combined with the presentation of own results
• A good knowledge of English allowing for unconstraint use of scientific literature, for writing publications and presenting own results.
• Knowledge of other languages welcome.
