ASSISTANT POSITION in the Division of Organic Chemistry

DIRECTOR OF THE CENTRE OF MOLECULAR AND MACROMOLECULAR STUDIES POLISH ACADEMY OF SCIENCES IN ŁÓDŹ ANNOUNCES RESEARCH ASSISTANT POSITION AVAILABLE in the Division of Organic Chemistry.

(POSITION IN THE FIELD OF THE SYNTHESIS AND PHYSICO-CHEMICAL STUDIES OF SELF-ORGANISING MATERIALS BASED ON BORON CLUSTERS.)

 1. Research and other works in which the candidate will participate:

  • Synthesis and functionalization of boron clusters.
  • Purification and separation of products using chromatography, sublimation, crystallization, etc., and preparation of pure samples for physico-chemical, spectroscopic, electro-optical, and thermal studies.
  • Determination of structures of products using spectroscopic (NMR, MS, UV, IR) and combustion analyses.
  • Preparation and investigation of self-organizing molecular materials including thermal, optical and electro-optical properties (DSC, POM, Liquid Crystal Analysis System – LCAS).
  • Preparation of grant proposals, publications, monographs and patent applications in Polish and English.

2. Requirements for the Candidate:

  • Master of Science degree in chemistry or relative fields.
  • Documented research achievements in the field described in subsection 1, including at least 3 publications in the JCR list in the fields of:
    1. synthesis and functionalization of boron clusters,
    2. preparation and physico-chemical studies of liquid crystalline materials.
  • Documented capability to plan and conduct research and to effectively prepare research projects; participation in at least 2 projects related to the topic.
  • Expert knowledge of the research techniques listed above, including interpretation of the results.
  • Documented participation in national and international conferences devoted to the areas indicated above, combined with the presentation of own results.
  • Knowledge of English, allowing for free using of professional literature, writing grant proposals, original publications, monographs and patent applications.

3. Required documents:

  • List of publications, conference presentations.
  • Copy of the MSc diploma.
  • Two recommendations from professors or associate professors.

5. Results of this competition will be announced before 2021.04.23.

6. During the competition procedure, candidates may be invited for interview and seminar presentation.

7. The successful candidate will be employed in accordance with the provisions of the Polish Labor Law for limited or unlimited time.
