Lab manager position in NCN SONATA BIS

The competition is open for a lab manager position in NCN SONATA BIS 2022/46/E/ST4/00392 project, entitled „Towards understanding of polymorphism and crystallization pathways of organic molecular crystals”.

PI: dr hab. Marta Dudek, prof. CBMM

Position: lab manager

Project description: The planned project aims at the deepening of our understanding of crystallization processes of organic molecules, as well as to unveil new crystallization pathways to elusive polymorphic forms. Crystallization experiments conducted in the lab will be supported by quantum-chemical calculations, which are meant to indicate the most preferred crystallization pathways. The obtained results will be used to create a crystallization condition database, linking crystal structure with crystallization conditions. We expect new polymorphic forms of investigated molecules can emerge as part of the research. These will be characterized with single-crystal X-Ray diffraction experiments, while for microcrystalline powders, solid-state NMR experiments together with crystal structure prediction calculations will be used. The project has interdisciplinary character, and include elements from supramolecular, organic, and computational chemistry, as well as spectroscopy and crystallography.

  • PhD degree in chemistry, pharmacy or closely related subjects
  • Fluency in Polish (in speech and writing)
  • scientific publications confirming experience in chemical laboratory work
  • experience in crystallization experiments, excellent knowledge on crystallization techniques
  • good understanding of solid-state and supramolecular chemistry
  • organizing skills, analytical thinking, creative approach to research tasks, willingness and ability to pass on the knowledge to younger scientists
  • independence in lab work
  • excellent skills in literature search, very good knowledge on scientific journals most relevant to the field
