PhD Student position in NCN SONATA BIS-14 Project

The competition is open for PhD student  in the NCN SONATA BIS-14 Project (No. 2024/54/E/ST11/00168)
“Supramolecular nanoparticles able to block calcium channels in cancer cells”

Position: PhD student 

Project description:

1. Synthesis of cyclic carbonates and their analysis by spectroscopic methods;
2. Synthesis of cyclic carbonate copolymers with allyl glycidyl ether and their functionalization using “click” chemistry methods;
3. Preparation of nanoparticles with appropriate size and structure using microfluidic and nanoprecipitation techniques, etc.;
4. Analysis of the obtained copolymers and nanoparticles, their structure, properties, and stability in aqueous solutions (NMR, FTIR, DSC, TGA, SEM, DLS);
5. Encapsulation of target active substances in the obtained nanoparticles and analysis of their release kinetics;
6. Participation in national/international scientific conferences;
7. Participation in writing and editing scientific papers.

Requirements:

1. Master of Science degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or related sciences received in the last 5 years;
2. Status of a doctoral student at the BioMedChem Doctoral School or readiness for recruitment to this School;
3. Knowledge and experience in organic chemistry and the synthesis of polymers and copolymers. Familiarity with NMR, FTIR, DSC, TGA, and DLS techniques;
4. Very good written and spoken English;
5. Openness to interdisciplinary cooperation;
6. Motivation for conducting scientific research, creativity.

The scholarship will be awarded contingent upon PhD student status or admission to the BioMedChem doctoral school.
