DIRECTOR OF THE CENTRE OF MOLECULAR AND MACROMOLECULAR STUDIES, POLISH ACADEMY OF SCIENCES IN ŁÓDŹ ANNOUNCES A COMPETITION FOR THE POSITIONS OF ASSISTANT IN ORGANIC CHEMISTRY DIVISION
The position covers work in the field of development of classical and mechanochemical synthesis methods of optically active compounds with a stereogenic carbon atom and/or heteroatom, in particular the synthesis of chiral heterooxophosphinic acids, their use in nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy as chiral solvating reagents, and carrying out selected asymmetric reactions with their participation along with the optimization of the yield and stereochemical purity.
The area of the research in which the candidate will participate:
Design and synthesis of new, optically active auxiliaries that will be used in asymmetric synthesis and in NMR spectroscopy as solvating reagents (CSAs) (chiral heterooxophosphinic acids, chiral ionic liquids, heteroatom analogues of 8-phenylmenthol),
Investigation of the configurational stability and the feasibility of enantiomeric resolution of the synthesized compounds,
Investigation of thermal properties of the obtained compounds using DSC, and TGA techniques,
Separation of crude reaction mixtures by physicochemical methods, including chromatographic techniques (classical, HPLC, flash),
Determination of products structure by spectroscopic methods (NMR, MS, HRMS, UV, IR),
Preparation of grant applications, publications, monographs and patent applications.
Conditions to be met by the candidate
At least a master’s degree in chemical sciences,
Proven scientific achievements including at least three publications in the field of the synthesis of chiral auxiliaries and chiral ionic liquids,
Proven scientific achievements in the field of synthesis of organophosphorus compounds containing phosphorus atom at various oxidation states, including phosphorus atom as a stereogenic center,
Proven achievements in the field of intellectual property protection,
Proven participation in realization of research projects,
Proven knowledge of the research techniques listed in point 1, combined with the ability to interpret the results,
Proven experience in writing scientific publications and presentation of results at scientific conferences,
Proven knowledge of the English language to enable independent preparation of scientific publications, patent applications, and projects,
