POST-DOC position in NCN OPUS Project

The competition is open for a POST-DOC position in the NCN OPUS Project (UMO-2025/59/B/ST11/01810): “Nanofibrils generated from crystalline polymers consisting disentangled macromolecules.”

Position: POST-DOC

1. The aims of this project are:

1. Untangling macromolecules of crystalline polymers;
2. Untangling macromolecules of crystalline polymers with high melting points and high temperature of crystallization;
3. Preparation of “all-polymer” nanocomposites using polymers with disentangled macromolecules and various polymeric matrices;
4. Refining known methods of disentangling macromolecules of crystalline polymers;
5. Preparation of polymer nanocomposites with high melting crystalline and disentangled polymers;
6. Approach to describe the state of disentangling and evaluation of entangling enthalpy and entropy;
7. Preparation of fibrous nanocomposites with the participation of crystalline polymers deforming into nanofibers as a result of shearing;
8. Correlating macroscopic properties of nanocomposites with the structure and properties of components.

2. Requirements:

• PhD in science or engineering (engineering, material science, physics, chemistry, or related);
• High average grade of studies;
• Interest in experimental physics/chemistry of polymers;
• Solid background in polymer physics and physical chemistry, especially in nanomaterials and nanocomposites, essentials in rheology;
• Good record of publications in the field of crystalline polymers, polymer nanocomposites and nanomaterials;
• Skills in experimental methods: all microscopies, x-ray scattering and diffraction, calorimetry, mechanical testing, rheometry, polymer processing;
• Good command of English;
• High motivation for scientific work and a strong commitment to research work;
• Readiness to continuously improve and expand her/his skills;
• Readiness to participate actively in the academic life of the Institute and the research team;
• Compilation of data and results; documentation and maintenance of laboratory notebooks;
• Communication and discussion of results within the research team;
• Analysis of results and preparation of publication in scientific journals and presentations at scientific conferences.

6. Conditions of Employment: National Science Centre (NCN) funded scholarship in the taxable amount 14000 zł (Polish zloty) gross per month (health care, insurance, income tax).

The expected beginning of employment is September-October 2026.
