PROFESSOR-2 of CMMS PAS POSITION in Functional Polymers and Polymer Materials Division

DIRECTOR OF CENTRE OF MOLECULAR AND MACROMOLECULAR STUDIES, POLISH ACADEMY OF SCIENCES, ANNOUNCES A COMPETITION FOR THE POSITION OF PROFESSOR OF CENTRE OF MOLECULAR AND MACROMOLECULAR STUDIES PAS in FUNCTIONAL POLYMERS AND POLYMER MATERIALS DIVISION.

The position is related to conducting comprehensive research in obtaining nanoparticles and microparticles made of polymers and low-molecular chemical compounds capable of controlled-release of drugs. The obtained particles will be carriers for low molecular weight substances and should be created using the microfluidic technique and related techniques.

1. The main objectives of the research will include:

• Conducting research in the field of synthesis of supramolecular polymers undergoing spontaneous self-assembly as a result of intermolecular interactions that are sensitive to external stimuli, such as pH, heat, or light.
• Obtaining nano- and micro-particles with the use of microfluidic, nano-precipitation, spray-drying, and other related methods.
• Testing the properties and suitability of the obtained materials in diminishing cancer, viruses, and bacteria.
• Development of the novel research subject and searching for new related research topics.
• Managing a research team on the topics mentioned above.
• Supervising doctoral dissertations.
• Attracting funds for research and purchase of research equipment.

2. Conditions required from the candidate:

• Having a postdoctoral degree in chemical, physical, technical, or related sciences.
• Documented scientific achievements (original publications in journals from the Philadelphia List, with a high IF) in the field of polymer and colloid chemistry, with a preference for accomplishments similar to the research topics listed in point 1.
• Experience in managing a research team and caring for doctoral students or graduate students.
• Documented skills in obtaining research equipment and funds, applying for research projects, and their implementation.
• Conducting a research internship (at least two years) in foreign research centers.

6. During the competition procedure candidates may be asked to present their results obtained so far in the form of a seminar at CMMS PAS.
7. The selected candidate will be employed in accordance with the provisions of the Polish Labour Law for an indefinite or definite period.
