STUDENT scholarship in the NCN SONATA 17 Project

Announcement on the STUDENT scholarship in the NCN SONATA 17 Project (2021/43/D/ST4/02433) ”P-stereodefined phosphorothioate analogs of “morpholino” oligonucleotides (sTMO) as a new model of therapeutic nucleic acids: synthesis, structure, physicochemical and biological properties”

Position title: Fellow-Student

Applicant has to meet the following requirements:
–   Bachelor Degree in chemistry or related;
–   Accomplished basic organic chemistry and knowledge of the basics of bioorganic chemistry;
–   Knowledge of English enabling the use of English literature;
–   Motivation for scientific work.

Task description:

– Executing synthetic schemes; adapt existing procedures, undertaking controlled experiments;
– Recording data (NMR);
– Synthesis of starting materials (morpholino nucleosides, oxathiaphospholane monomers); separation of monomers to P-diastereoisomers by using preparative HPLC.

We offer:

– Opportunities to acquire new knowledge and increase the skills in the field of synthesis and characterization of modified nucleosides (nucletides) and P-stereodefined phosphorothioate analogs of “morpholino” Oligonucleotides;
– There is also the possibility of implementing of the experimental part of the master’s thesis.

– NCN scholarship: 1 000,00 PLN net/month for 2 years
