PhD student position in NCN PRELUDIUM BIS-5

The competition is open for PhD student in the NCN PRELUDIUM BIS-5 Project (2023/49/B/ST11/01582)
“Click chemistry in microfluidic channels for the construction of nanomaterials against drug-resistant microbes”

The leader of the project: dr hab. Marek Brzeziński, associate professor

Position: PhD student

Project description:

1. The preparation of nanoparticles of appropriate size and structure using the microfluidic technique;
2. Analysis of the obtained nanoparticles, their structure, properties and stability (NMR, FTIR, DSC, TGA, SEM, DLS);
3. In vitro effectiveness tests of the obtained nanoparticles under the supervision of Dr Weronika Gonciarz (University of Łódź);
4. Participation in national/international scientific conferences;
5. Participation in writing and editing scientific papers.

Applicant has to meet the following requirements:

1. Master of Science degree in chemistry, biochemistry or related sciences received in the last 5 years;
2. Status of a doctoral student at the BioMedChem Doctoral School or readiness for recruitment to this School;
3. Knowledge of microfluidic technique, NMR, FTIR, and DLS. Experience in working with cell cultures will be an additional advantage;
4. Very good written and spoken English;
5. Openness to interdisciplinary cooperation;
6. Willingness to complete a six-month internship at the Basque University in San Sebastian;
7. Motivation for scientific work, creativity.

2. CV – the list of scientific achievements, including publications, scholarships, awards
and scientific experience acquired during previous scholarships, workshops  scientific
training, and participation in research projects.
3. A copy of the diploma or official document confirming the obtaining of the Master’s degree. A document confirming the date of defence of the master’s thesis is acceptable.
4. At least one letter of recommendation from the previous supervisor.
